Established in 2001, Sol Acoustics is an independent acoustic consultancy with offices located in Cheshire and Dorset. Providing design consultancy across the United Kingdom and internationally, all our work is governed by a desire to achieve sustainable, commercially aware and carefully engineered solutions. In practical terms, this leads to cost-effective designs which minimise the use of raw materials.
Our plastics recycling plant at Bourne is responsible for shredding and separating many different types of materials. As such, the operations are generally noisy, so when expanding the main shredding line recently, we needed to pay special attention to the potential noise generated and how this would affect our closest residential neighbours. Sol Acoustics provided an excellent service, conducting a noise assessment and recommending mitigation measures. Their staff were knowledgeable in both noise and planning matters, which enabled us to meet the noise targets first time.
Following on from issues the regulators had with another consultant’s report, we appointed Sol to provide an Environmental Noise Impact Assessment to support our EA Permit application for our new Cornwall Soil Treatment Facility. Sol’s advise was refreshingly pragmatic, enabling us to mutually agree an appropriate noise mitigation strategy prior to issuing the final report. Sol’s assessment was thorough, yet succinct and ultimately helped us to secure the Permit.
